The Practice is accredited as a Training Practice within the West of Scotland Post Graduate Education Scheme. Dr Elms and Dr Simms are GP Trainers within this Scheme. Each year in February we appoint a fully qualified doctor who wishes to train to become a General Practitioner. This doctor is known as the GP Registrar and will work in the practice for one year, during which time he/she will be involved in all the aspects of patient care provided by the practice. He/she will also take part in tutorials given by the trainer and other partners on a weekly basis. As part of the training process the registrar is required to video a certain number of his/her consultations. Patients are asked to complete a consent form and at this point are perfectly entitled to choose not to have their consultation recorded.
